Boeing Announced Strong Q1 Airplane Deliveries

The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) reported Q1/22 commercial deliveries of 95 aircraft, up from 77 for the same period a year ago. Shares rose more than 3% on Wednesday. The delivery numbers were a positive, reflecting improvement in the outlook for the 737 MAX as the company transitions to a production rate of 31/month.

Boeing also signed 167 gross orders in Q1. The company has around 115 787s in inventory. It continues to have around 340 MAX aircraft in storage, but analysts at RBC Capital believe the company delivered 34 MAX aircraft in March 2022, representing a step up from the Jan-Feb run rate and helping with confidence in the full year 500 target.

The RBC Capital analysts believe inventory reduction will be a key catalyst for the stock and should support confidence in the Free Cash Flow outlook.
