Cigna Corporation (NYSE:CI) reported its Q3 results, with EPS coming in at $5.73, which beat the consensus estimate by 9.6%, driven by Evernorth ($1.55 billion), while US Medical ($0.99 billion) was slightly ahead due in part to stronger investment income and specialty contribution, which overcame MCR pressures concentrated in the exchange Special Enrollment Period (SEP) additions.
The company revised its 2021 outlook, now expecting adjusted revenues of $172 billion from $170 billion prior. EPS is expected to be $20.35, raised from prior guidance of $20.20.
Following the quarter, analysts at Oppenheimer raised their 2021/2022 EPS estimates to $20.36/$22.43 from $20.33/ $22.23. The analysts believe the company continues to successfully navigate the pandemic.
