Victoria Rodríguez Ceja, the governor of Banxico, the Central Bank of Mexico, gave a status update on its central bank digital currency (CBDC), the digital peso, expecting the development to be completed and launched in three years.

The governor also added that the new currency, the development of which was announced back in December last year, could be used as a means of exchange, as a unit of account, and as a store of value.
