The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU) reported its Q3 results. Although the quarterly revenue growth was below expectations, EPS of $0.63 was ahead of the consensus estimate of $0.58 on stronger-than-expected margins and a lower tax rate due to a one-time benefit in Business Solutions. Softness on the top line was attributable to the C2C business falling below expectations, due to weakness in the retail money transfer business from lingering Covid-19 impacts offset by continued strength in digital albeit at a slower rate of growth due to difficult comps.
The company lowered its full 2021-year revenue growth guidance from mid-single digits to around 3-4%, but slightly increased its EPS to $2.05-$2.10.
