"Insiders" are people who may have valuable private information about a company according to their states. In terms of securities trading, any director, officer or any person who owns more than 10% of a company is an insider.
An insider may trade the shares, options and RSUs that they have, but when they do that, they must fill a SEC Form 4 – Statement of Changes in Beneficial Ownership – in a 2-days period after selling or buying securities, and this information becomes available for the public. Other investors may use that information for analytics — in general, when there are a lot of transactions made by insiders recently, it can be a bullish or bearish sign.
Our API provides information that we collect from fulfillments by insiders SEC Forms 3, 4 and 5. Each record includes the company’s symbol, date of transaction, transaction type (such as selling, purchasing, granting from the company, etc.), the person who made a transaction, security name, the amount of transaction, and how many securities this person has now. The link to the original report on SEC archive is also included.
You may get the list of the latest transactions from (this endpoint). You may use filters such as company symbols, company CIK or report CIK. We support the filter by transaction types such as purchasing and selling, and you can get (the list of all transaction types).
You may use special CIK mappers to get (CIK number by person’s name) or by (company’s symbol).
If you want to get the latest trades in real-time, you may use (the insider trading RSS endpoint)
