Comfort Systems USA (NYSE:FIX) Q3 2026 Earnings Preview: Strong Growth Expected for HVAC Services Stock

  • Comfort Systems USA (NYSE:FIX) anticipates strong Q3 2026 results, with analysts forecasting earnings of $12.85 per share and revenue of approximately $3.40 billion.
  • Growth expectations for the leading HVAC services provider are bolstered by robust data center demand and a record $14.06 billion backlog.
  • The company demonstrated strong financial performance in the previous quarter, with adjusted earnings up 91.9% and revenue up 50.3%, alongside significant cash generation.

Comfort Systems USA (NYSE:FIX) is expected to report third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes on Thursday, October 22. The company installs and services heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems for commercial and industrial customers. Wall Street estimates earnings of $12.85 per share on revenue of approximately $3.40 billion.

Analysts expect earnings per share to rise 53.9% and revenue to grow 36.7% from a year earlier. Strong data center demand and a record $14.06 billion backlog support those expectations for the commercial HVAC market. A backlog is contracted work that has not yet been completed, so it offers a view of potential future revenue.

In the previous quarter, Comfort Systems USA beat earnings estimates by 20.7% and revenue estimates by 11%. Adjusted earnings rose 91.9% from a year earlier to $12.53 per share, while revenue increased 50.3% to $3.27 billion. Those results set a high bar for the October report.

Cash generation is another area to watch for the HVAC contractor. Operating cash flow reached $1.53 billion in the first half of 2026, up from $164.50 million a year earlier. Free cash flow—the cash left after capital spending—rose to $1.24 billion from $113.10 million, even with $288.80 million spent on equipment and other long-term assets.

Advance customer payments helped lift cash flow. With full-year capital spending expected to be about 5% of revenue, that cash could help Comfort Systems USA fund expansion without relying as much on outside financing. The timing of customer payments remains important to future spending flexibility, as highlighted by Zacks Investment Research.
