Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang is set to hold a media briefing in Beijing on July 16, marking his second trip to China in 2025 as geopolitical scrutiny over U.S. chip exports deepens.

The visit comes at a time of rising U.S.-China tensions over advanced AI chip access, with Washington tightening restrictions on Nvidia's exports to the country. Despite this, China remains a key growth market for Nvidia, contributing $17 billion in revenue, or 13% of total sales in FY25.

U.S. Pressure Builds Around China Engagement

A bipartisan group of U.S. senators recently urged Huang to avoid meetings with Chinese firms tied to military or intelligence operations. The senators also emphasized avoiding contact with entities on the U.S. restricted export list.

The caution stems from the U.S. ban on Nvidia's H20 AI chip, the company's most advanced product legally allowed for sale in China before the restriction was imposed earlier this year.

China Demand Remains Strong Despite Restrictions

Chinese tech firms remain heavily reliant on Nvidia's CUDA platform, which underpins many of their AI workloads. Although Huawei and domestic GPU competitors are catching up, Nvidia's deep ecosystem continues to anchor its demand in the region.

China's Share in Nvidia's AI Strategy

Despite export bans, Nvidia continues to see China as a strategic pillar. Huang, who had also visited China in April, reiterated the importance of the region during his last trip.

To stay updated on institutional views surrounding Nvidia and others in the semiconductor space, the Up/Down Grades by Company API offers timely insights into broker rating changes and sentiment shifts.

Nvidia's market cap recently crossed $4 trillion, underscoring its dominant role in the global AI arms race. The outcome of Huang's Beijing visit could shape the next chapter in U.S.-China chip diplomacy and Nvidia's roadmap in the East.
