Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark recently demonstrated a groundbreaking technology called "immersive audio and video," which enhances the quality of phone calls by providing three-dimensional sound, creating a more lifelike communication experience. Lundmark, who was present during the first 2G call in 1991, hailed this development as the future of voice calls.

Traditional smartphone calls typically offer monophonic audio, compressing audio elements and resulting in flatter, less detailed sound. However, Nokia's new technology introduces 3D audio, allowing callers to perceive sound as if they were physically present with the other person.

Jenni Lukander, president of Nokia Technologies, emphasized that this innovation represents the most significant advancement in live voice calling experience since the introduction of monophonic telephony audio. The successful call, which took place with Finland's Ambassador of Digitalisation and New Technologies, Stefan Lindström, marks a milestone in telecommunications.

Furthermore, Lukander noted that this technology is on track to become standardized, enabling network providers, chipset manufacturers, and handset manufacturers to integrate it into their products. This development heralds a new era of immersive communication experiences, enhancing the way we connect with others through technology.
