  • Barclays maintains an Overweight rating on Valero Energy (NYSE:VLO), significantly increasing its price target to $441.00.
  • Other analysts, including Bank of America and TD Cowen, offer varied price targets and ratings, reflecting diverse market outlooks for refining stocks.
  • The refining sector, including Valero and competitors like Marathon Petroleum, is gaining investor interest due to strong fuel margins.

Barclays maintains its Overweight rating on Valero Energy and raises its price target to $441.00 from $323.00. Valero refines crude oil into fuels such as gasoline and diesel. An Overweight rating means Barclays expects the stock to perform better than the market or its peers.

Valero stock trades at $419.33 when Barclays posts its update. The new $441.00 target is $21.67 above that price, or about 5.20%. A price target is an analyst’s estimate of where a stock could trade; it is not a guaranteed return.

Other analysts take a more cautious view. As highlighted by Defense World, Bank of America raises its target from $395.00 to $414.00 but keeps a neutral rating. TD Cowen raises its target to $350.00 and keeps a hold rating, while Erste Group Bank moves to hold and Weiss Ratings moves to buy.

Refining stocks also draw interest as investors focus on fuel margins—the difference between what refiners pay for crude oil and what they receive for fuel. As highlighted by 24/7 Wall St., Valero gains 4.00% and competitor Marathon Petroleum rises 5.00%, while Exxon Mobil is flat.
