FMP Adds Reporting-Period Context to ESG Benchmarks

FMP's ESG Benchmark Comparison API now includes a period field for each sector benchmark row. Added on August 12, 2026, the field identifies the fiscal reporting period associated with the environmental, social, and governance scores. It gives analysts and developers additional context to carry alongside the benchmark values.

A Reporting-Period Label Alongside Each Benchmark

The new field makes reporting-period information explicit in the response. For example, an FY value identifies a full fiscal-year reporting period. Users can display that label with the scores so readers can see the period context attached to the benchmark.

This is useful when ESG data moves from an API response into a research table or dashboard. Keeping the period label visible helps preserve the meaning of the original record as the information passes through different tools and presentation formats.

Clearer Context for ESG Research

Sector benchmarks help analysts place company ESG scores in a broader peer context. Reporting-period information adds another detail to review when selecting and presenting those comparisons. Analysts can include it in their benchmark checks, while developers can expose it in tables, tooltips, or other displays of ESG data.

The August 12 ESG benchmark release note documents the new field. Users integrating the endpoint can include period alongside the benchmark scores in their response mappings.
