FMP Improves ETF and Fund Allocation Data and Update Timestamps

FMP has introduced several improvements to ETF and mutual fund data, covering country allocation calculations, consistency across endpoints, and holdings update timestamps.

Released across August and September 2026, the changes address details that matter when comparing funds and reviewing geographic exposure. They also improve the accuracy of the update times returned with individual holdings.

More Consistent Country Allocation Data

An August 17 correction to the ETF & Fund Country Allocation API addressed a calculation issue that could include stale holdings snapshots in country weight percentages. The calculation now uses the fund's most recent holdings update. This keeps older snapshots from influencing the returned country breakdown.

A September 21 update also aligned results across FMP's country allocation endpoints so the same fund returns a consistent breakdown. Where a fund issuer publishes its own country allocation, FMP now uses that information. Together, these changes support more consistent comparisons between funds and across applications using different country allocation endpoints.

For portfolio analysts and fund research teams, country weights help describe where a fund's assets are allocated. Corrections to those weights can therefore affect the geographic exposure shown in a comparison table, research report, or portfolio dashboard.

Corrected Holdings Update Timestamps

FMP also corrected timestamp formatting in the ETF & Fund Holdings API on August 12. The issue affected the minutes portion of the updatedAt value returned for each holding. That field now correctly represents the actual update time.

Accurate timestamps help users interpret the timing information attached to a holdings record. Developers displaying those values in a dashboard can present the corrected update time alongside the underlying position data.

The ETF and fund release notes document each change and its release date.
