If you access real-time or delayed stock data through FMP, you may have been asked to complete a User Declaration Form. This is not just an admin step — it is a required part of accessing exchange data legally and transparently. Here is what it is, when you need to complete it, and how to do it.

What is a User Declaration Form?

A User Declaration Form is a document required by stock exchanges to determine how market data will be used. Exchanges such as Nasdaq, NYSE, and others strictly regulate who can access their data and under what conditions. The form helps FMP confirm whether you are a non-professional or professional user according to each exchange's rules.

FMP is an official licensed partner of all major stock exchanges and maintains direct relationships with them. Because of these partnerships, FMP must comply with each exchange's licensing policies — which is why the User Declaration Form is a necessary part of the process.

When Do You Need to Fill It In?

You will need to complete a User Declaration Form any time you request access to real-time or delayed market data from a regulated exchange.

  • Real-time data — prices and market activity as they happen
  • Delayed data — prices that are 15 or 20 minutes behind the market

How to Complete the Form

You can access the form in two ways:

Option 1 — Direct link: User Declaration Form

Option 2 — Via your dashboard: Log in to your FMP account, go to your Dashboard, and click on the User Declaration tab. Click "Complete Form", select the option that matches your use case, fill in your information and save.

When completing the form, you will be asked to select one of the following subscriber types:

Non-Professional (Individual) Subscriber For personal use only, not for commercial purposes or redistribution. Select this if you access market data solely for personal, non-commercial purposes, your access is self-funded, and you are not registered or licensed with any financial authority.

Professional (Individual) Subscriber For professionals in the financial industry using data for their work. Select this if you use market data for commercial or work-related purposes, are regulated by a financial authority (e.g. SEC, FINRA, FCA), or work for a financial institution such as a bank, broker-dealer, asset manager, or hedge fund.

Business / Enterprise Subscriber For companies, trading firms, or commercial redistribution of data. Select this if you are a company or legal entity integrating market data across multiple users, systems, or products, or if you require company-wide licensing, redistribution rights, or exchange audit support.

Impact on Pricing

Personal use: Completing the User Declaration Form will not affect your billing, subscription, or data access in any way.

Commercial use: Pricing may be subject to change depending on the exchange and your usage type. Please speak to your dedicated account manager for more information.

Final Thoughts

The User Declaration Form is a simple but essential part of accessing real-time and delayed stock data through FMP. Because FMP partners directly with all major stock exchanges, compliance with their licensing policies is required for all users. Completing the form ensures your data access is legitimate, transparent, and aligned with official exchange standards.

If you have any questions about the process, reply to the email you received or contact our support team directly.
